Bionic AMA Recap: Platform Vision, Community Transparency, and Future Roadmap
Featuring:
- Richard Simpson — CSO at Bionic
- Dominic Rodwell — CPO at Bionic, live from DevCon in Bangkok
In this AMA, Our founders Richard Simpson and Dominic Rodwell answered questions from the community, focusing on Bionic’s commitment to transparency, plans for community involvement, and a forward-looking roadmap. Here’s a breakdown of the questions asked and the founders’ insights.
Q1: How has the American election impacted the crypto market?
Richard:
“The American election has been beneficial for crypto more widely. It’s kind of a first key indicator we were looking for to help with the market generally. This positive sentiment is important after a lot of choppy price action, which sucked out a lot of enthusiasm.”
Q2: Dom, what’s it like on the ground at DevCon?
Dominic:
“I’m here in Bangkok for DevCon. The focus this week is on meeting with projects and potential council members. It’s global, and the energy is great — everyone’s feeling bullish. We’re really emphasizing deal flow, meeting the right projects to bring onto the platform.”
Q3: Transparency and community involvement are central to Bionic’s platform. How will you ensure these values are upheld as Bionic grows?
Richard:
“Transparency and community involvement will be core to our operations. We’ll continue holding AMAs where people can ask us questions. We’re also building a council that will include community members, giving the community a voice in our decision-making. There will be ‘release notes’ to communicate our decisions — these could be written, voice notes, or even AMAs, explaining our rationale behind key business decisions.”
Dominic:
“Release notes will detail each step we take towards launch, accompanied by visuals and videos so the community has a deep insight into our progress.”
Q4: Can you elaborate on Bionic’s approach to wallet integration?
Richard:
“Initially, we planned to develop our own soulbound wallet, but we decided to go with a third-party provider, Privy, instead. It was a security-driven decision — wallet security is paramount. Privy has proven successful with other clients, and using them frees us to focus on other areas of the platform.”
Dominic:
“The decision was about ensuring a great user experience and a platform we can innovate on in the future. Launch is just the start, and we want a wallet that will support Bionic’s long-term goals.”
Q5: How can we get involved in beta testing or gain early access to Bionic?
Richard:
“We’ll open up applications for beta testing soon, with testing set to start around November 25th. You’ll go through the whole onboarding and investment process, including KYC, and have access to a test project. We’re looking forward to your feedback on both functionality and user experience.”
Dominic:
“We want honest criticism, suggestions for improvement, and bug reporting. Your feedback will be key to refining the platform.”
Q6: What will be the first investment opportunity on Bionic?
Richard:
“Right now, we don’t know. It’s only been eight days since the election’s positive momentum, so we’re re-opening conversations and working with our advisors. We aim to launch with more than one project, but we’ll keep the community updated as we progress.”
Dominic:
“We’re revisiting existing conversations with top-tier projects while also engaging with new ones. We’re aiming for multiple launch-ready projects when Bionic goes live.”
Q7: Do you have any advice for those interested in joining Bionic?
Richard:
“Stay connected, engage on socials, and join the airdrop campaign — it will contribute to your reputation score, which plays a part in your platform application.”
Q8: How will Bionic measure success post-launch?
Richard:
“Our success metrics go beyond token price. We’re interested in business milestones like community size, product launches, and cash flow. Crypto is cyclical, so we’re focused on sustainable projects with long-term value, not just token growth.”
Q9: What’s the long-term roadmap for Bionic?
Richard:
“Our roadmap includes launching soon, with a 2–3 week airdrop campaign before launch. In the long term, we plan to transition Bionic to a DAO structure with business units, creating a self-sustaining, decentralized ecosystem.”
Dominic:
“The ‘launch protocol’ vision includes additional fundraising mechanisms to support long-term project growth. We’re also exploring internship opportunities for community members to engage more deeply with Web3 projects.”
Q10: Will there be incentives for community participation in governance?
Richard:
“Yes, our reputation system rewards governance participation. Tasks like voting and contributing to due diligence for potential projects could earn reputation points, tokens, or guaranteed access to new projects.”
Q11: What makes Bionic different from other launchpads?
Richard:
“We want to be a launch protocol, not just a launchpad. Our platform will offer data insights and business reports to help investors make informed decisions. We’re building a comprehensive investment experience beyond what traditional launchpads offer.”
Q12: How will reputation mining work, and how can users build their reputation score?
Richard:
“Reputation mining will assess users’ on-chain and social behaviors. Positive activities, like supporting Gitcoin grants, can contribute to a higher reputation score, while active engagement in the crypto community will also factor in.”
Q13: What features will Bionic offer at launch and post-launch?
Richard:
“We’re excited about the platform’s analytics and data features, which will set us apart. There are more major features in development, but we’ll reveal those gradually as they’re finalized with our partners.”
Q14: How important is community feedback in Bionic’s development?
Richard:
“We’re building in public, so community feedback is crucial. If we don’t adopt a community suggestion, we’ll explain why. We want our community of sophisticated investors to help shape Bionic’s future.”
